![]() I no longer travel as I used to before my colostomy. I have issues with walking, so I don’t get out much other than a stroll from the car to the inside of the doctors’ offices, and my senior clubs, and or restaurants etc. I'll try to be more careful from here on. Well, that hurt a bit, although I thought it was funny. I did have an incident of pinching the bottom of the stoma while changing the pouch and clicking it into place. I’ll mention it again that I have a HUGE hernia, which is very low on the abdominal wall, and my stoma protrudes and hangs low toward day’s end. Worry, worry, but I digress! My first concern, is if having this change of frequency is a new normal, or is there the need to see a specialist. How would I explain that to acquaintances or strangers when in their company? Besides, if I don’t make it to the bathroom, I’d have no control, and then I would have to worry about the smell and soiled underwear, even if protected by panty liners. I don’t mean to complain, but, I’m a bit afraid to go to places where a toilet is not quickly accessible, especially having to stand in line to use a public bathroom…I sometimes grimace with pain and double over. I hope that doesn't mean I'm going to have it every few days. But, I’m plagued with the weekly appearance of this condition, and it happened again today, only four days from the last onslaught. There was no repeat performance with the rush of clear liquid anymore. One week later, I had the rectal discharge again with severe abdominal and pressure pain in the rectum. Not only did I have the brownish discharge, which, by the way was always just a small blob discernible under the water in the toilet bowl, but, I had an incident of a rush of clear liquid water, fast and furious for a few seconds. They last about one to two days.Ībout two months ago, it came on strong. After its discharge from the rectum, the pain goes away until the next incident. I say, annually, because it’s been that way since August 2010…The brownish liquid discharge is always accompanied by abdominal and rectal pain. I used to experience the discharge about two to three times annually. ![]() I’ve been reading the discussions about this being quite normal with ostomies…And, up until now, it’s so comforting to know this. ![]()
